1931
The chemist and patent attorney Dr.-Ing. Robert Poschenrieder sets up as a sole practitioner in Berlin, the seat of the German Reich Patent Office at the time.
1945
Robert Poschenrieder moves to Munich, from 1949 headquarters of the German Patent Office.
1950s
The firm grows steadily, among others with the later partner Dr.-Ing. Elisabeth Boettner and the later partner Dr. Dipl.-Chem Gerhard D. Schupfner as candidate.
1963
Dr.-Ing. Elisabeth Boettner becomes a partner in the law firm.
1966
Dipl.-Ing. Hans-Jürgen Müller moves from the Siemens patent department to the Poschenrieder law firm.
1968
Dipl.-Ing. Hans-Jürgen Müller takes over the management of the technical department as a partner.
1981
Dr. Dipl.-Chem. Gerhard D. Schupfner, formerly head of the patent department of Deutsche Texaco AG, opens a second office in Buchholz near Hamburg. Dipl.-Ing. Hans Peter Gauger joins the firm as a specialist in the engine and mechanical engineering sector from his individual practice. From now on, the firm trades under the name Müller, Schupfner & Gauger.
1998/1999
The sons of the namesake partners, Dr. Dipl.-Chem. Georg U. Schupfner and Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.) F. Peter Müller, join the firm as partners. Dr.-Ing. Franz-Josef Fuchs, long-time department director and head of the patent department for the central departments of Siemens AG, becomes a consultant for the firm.
2004
The Munich office moves from Maximilianstraße to Bavariaring 11, near the new premises of the European Patent Office. Dr Reta Schinkel, M.A. (Cantab), joins the firm and becomes a partner two years later.
2007
In the year of the 75th anniversary, Hans-Jürgen Müller and Dr. Gerhard Schupfner retire from the law firm business. The Hamburg branch moves into new premises at the Binnenhafen (Harburg inland port). Dipl.-Ing. Clemens Bauer joins the firm and becomes a partner in 2008.
2011
Müller Schupfner & Partner starts hiring attorneys at law and becomes a mixed law firm with both patent attorneys and attorneys at law. Since then, the firm has also represented its clients’ interests in infringement disputes in court.
2014
F. Peter Müller is elected President of ECTA (European Communites Trademark Association). The firm grows to over 12 professionals.
2019
A dedicated litigation department is established. The Chemistry practice at the Munich office is expanded by the addition of partner Dr. Christoph Heinemann. Dr. Michael Groß, Head of Team Licensing at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich and an expert in licensing and R&D contracts joins the firm as Of Counsel
2021
From our own ranks, Mascha Heidelberg was appointed partner in 2021. Ms. Heidelberg is an attorney-at-law and a Certified IP Lawyer.
