Munich, May 23, 2019 – The SAF-HOLLAND Group, a leading supplier of truck and trailer components, and the French company LOHR Industrie S.A., the world leader in vehicle transporters, signed a contract sealing a strategic partnership for the development of electric trailer axles. The cooperation is initially planned for ten years and can be further extended.
The law firm of Müller Schupfner and Partner assisted in the negotiations for this cutting-edge partnership between SAF-HOLLAND and LOHR from the beginning of negotiations to the successful signing of the final contracts.
The electric trailer axle AXEAL (AXle Electric Assist Lohr) jointly developed by SAF-HOLLAND and LOHR works completely independent of the tractor’s main drive and supports this during acceleration and braking with energy recuperation. By providing traction assistance, the tractor consumes up to 15 percent less fuel, and ride comfort is improved. The use of this trailer axle allows, for example, vehicle transporters to load and unload in urban areas at night.

LOHR located in Alsace near Strasbourg is a global specialist in the design, manufacture and marketing of good transport systems and world leader on the car transporter vehicle market.
