Dr. Michael Groß joins Müller Schupfner & Partner as Of Counsel

Müller Schupfner & Partner adds the renowned mediator and licensing agreement specialist Dr. Michael Groß to its team as of February 2019. Dr. Groß will serve as Of Counsel at Müller Schupfner & Partner and will be available exclusively to the law firm as an external advisor.

Dr. Michael Groß has more than 30 years of experience in the areas of licensing, research and development agreements, and European and German antitrust law. He is especially known in the field from his position as the head of the licensing team of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. He will also continue in this role. In addition, Dr. Groß is active as a mediator and arbitrator. He is registered with the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the DGRI, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the FICCI Arbitration and Conciliation Tribunal, amongst others.

Dr. Michael Groß was admitted as a lawyer in 1984 and worked until 1987 at a law firm in Münster. After his time in Münster, he joined the Munich office of Andersen Legal (later EY Law – Luther Mendold) in 1997. In 2003, he then moved to the law firm of Bird and Bird as Of Counsel – in addition to his role as head of the licensing team of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

“Licensing agreements and research and development cooperations are becoming more and more important amidst today’s growing digitalization and connectivity, e.g., the “Internet of Things”. This is especially true in light of increasing specialization and the resulting necessary cooperation between companies and research and development centers,” stated F. Peter Müller, Patent Attorney and Managing Partner of the law firm. “We are very pleased that Dr. Groß has decided to support us in this exciting field as Of Counsel and to contribute to our efforts to provide our clients with the best possible guidance in the areas of licensing and research cooperation.”

“The litigation practice of the firm will profit greatly from Dr. Groß’s expertise, as licensing and antitrust law are also of increasing importance in this area,” added Dr. Thomas Huber, Attorney at Law and Head of the Munich litigation team.

Dr. Michael Groß, attorney and mediator, stated, ”I am very happy to provide my knowledge and experience to Müller Schupfner & Partner as of February 2019 and to add to the spectrum of this full-service intellectual property firm.”
